Church Street Coleraine, North Side, 1900s

[Nos. 21-29a on Griffith's Map]

Courtesy of R. Anderson & T. McDonald.

This photograph, which must have been taken after 1909, shows Boyd's grocer's shop, mentioned earlier, and the newly refurbished & renovated building at the corner with Park Street. This new building included [Griffith's Nos. 28, 27 & 26].

From 1910 [No. 28] was occupied by the Bank of Ireland until 1925 when it was taken over by John B. & Wm. A. McLeese. They occupied it until the 1960s when it was taken over by R. McMeekin & Sons.

In 1909 James G. Young occupied [No. 27]. By the 1920s it was held by Joseph Cameron, Thomas Giffen and John Edgar. By the 1950s this shop had become J. & W. Cameron's grocer's shop.

After 1909 [No. 26] lay vacant for a time. Eventually it was occupied by Thomas J. Moore in 1919. From 1935 it was the premises of T. J. Moore (Cycle Agent) who had become a Cycle & Wireless Dealer & a Photographer by the 1940s. By 1967 it had become The Wimpy Bar.

Note that I have had to simplify the changes in [Nos. 26 to 28] above. For a more detailed account of the changes in these three premises after 1909, see the Griffith's Revisions.

See the next series of photographs for details of the occupants of these premises before 1909.
