Tables on this Web Site Their format The tables on this site were originally created in Excel. I decided not to put the Excel files up on the site for a number of reasons, not least the fact that only people with Excel on their computer would be able to open them. Instead, I decided to create tables from the databases. Normally, I have produced two versions of each table - one where the primary sort is by surname - and another where the primary sort is by place. This means that you will be able to find a townland or a surname by simply scrolling through the table. You can, of course, use the Find (on This Page) command in the Edit Menu in the toolbar of your browser. Note that you can select a part of any table and print it. Unfortunately, the header row will not be printed unless you select it, and that is not always possible. Also, when printing out these tables from the internet, in most cases, you will need to change the page orientation from portrait to landscape. Accuracy of the tables Remember these tables are not primary sources. I have never seen a database (and these tables were created from databases) that did not contain mistakes. I have checked the tables on this site many times but I cannot guarantee that all of the information in them is 100% correct. To be absolutely sure of particular information in a database, you should check the original. |
